Speaking the Truth in Love

Eph 4:15 –16

But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all {aspects} into Him who is the head, {even} Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

As I read this Scripture yesterday I pondered speaking truth in love. In doing that, we are to grow up in all aspects into Christ. How does this apply to losing weight from a writer's POV? Think about your trek to lose weight. When you kid yourself into thinking it won't hurt to eat the super-sized fast food meal, are you speaking the truth? And are you really loving yourself? If you are hurting and tell yourself eating that ice cream will make you feel better, are you speaking the truth?

If we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, I guess we can start with learning to speak the truth in love. Even to ourselves.
