New Year - Same Old Struggle

Here it is January 21, and I haven't posted a thing this year. Why? Because I'm dealing with the same old struggle. I've decided that diets, even when they are disguised as "life style changes" don't work. Well, they work but not in the long run.

So what's the answer? Moderation and making healthier choices.

Our country doesn't do much in moderation. We sit in restaurants that serve plates so full that two people can easily feast and be full. In fact, most of the dinners served harbor more calories than we need in a day.

Even many "healthy" foods are riddled with more calories than we need to consume. Herein lies my dilemma. I HATE counting calories. I've even tried counting carbs. The bottom line is: I want eating to be a natural act, not a lesson in mathematics.

I'm still searching for the answer. I'll try to pull my head up and come visit you all a little more often. Part of me felt too embarrassed to stop in to say I've made no progress. (However, I did lose three pounds in December and that's not bad considering the holidays offer all kinds of extra goodies.)

There I go, trying to justify the fact that I'm still eating more than I need to. It's a new year and a new start. If any of you readers have suggestions, please feel free to post them.
