One Day at a Time

Logic over emotion...for yesterday it worked. The rest of the week it will be a real test. Today friends arrive and Friday more friends arrive. Saturday I'm helping with a workshop, and with all that there is plenty of eating. But the thing I've learned over time is that there's always something going on and if I make exceptions for all of them I'm just spinning my wheels and lucky if I don't gain weight.

Yesterday, when I thought of eating chips, I made a couple of ears of sweetcorn. I even put some butter and salt on it. The thing is, it was a better choice than chips. That's the kind of changes I'm hoping to make. Not that I can never have chips, but in my case eating chips daily was not a healthy habit.

In the afternoon I enjoyed a fruit smoothie to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Today is a new day and will present new challenges. One day at a time, new habits can be established.

Good for you Donna!
I'm with you all the way on changing eating habits one day at a time. It's the only way to make the healthy habits permanent. You are doing a great job on that.

What I have noticed is a slow crawl downwards on my scale. My weight usually varies within a five pound range. The good thing is that the five pound range keeps getting lower.

I know that a lot of people say to not "scale watch" but it helps me to bring my eating back under control if it jumps up, before weight gain gets out of control. Anyway, it works for me.

You are so right about something always going on in life and that we can't make exceptions for all of them. I've accepted that living is stressful, so we have to establish those good habits to carry us through. You are doing a great job! Enjoy your friends and let us know how you do.

Following someone's blog is easy, just use the left most tab from your dashboard, then hit add. Also updates right there for you. :) I could use all the encouragement I can get, so thanks.

Well Donna as the weekend nears I'm thinking of just how strong a woman you are and I know you can face the challenge of friends and food!

Offer healthy snacks as an option for some of your guest. You'll be suprised to see just how quick the raw broccoli and cauliflour get eaten up with a good (fat free) ranch dressing(or try a spinach dip)! And celery sticks with a little salt on them can actually curb that salty need of chips.

If you don't offer the junk, then no one (including you!) can eat it, right?

Smart choices for a smart lady!!!

I know you can do it! I just know it!

Keep us posted!

Hi Joni,

I'm getting caught up from this weekend. While in my home we did have smoothies for breakfast (and the bagels my hubby bought)...I only had one. I did exercise on Saturday, but haven't exercised since. I was weary. Hope to get out there today.

The real problem arose in the fact that we didn't eat dinner here. We either ate out or at pot lucks...and I wasn't as "strong" as I'd hoped. But that's behind me now!
